Environmental Tests
Besides being a requirement in many standards type and approvals tests,
environmental testing is a tool that can be used in a development sense to
prove and troubleshoot product integrity.
Underwriters has significant military specification standards testing
experience.
Underwriters's facilities include instrumentation and equipment that meet
the requirements of the IEC60068 series and other technically equivalent
standards for the following range of tests:
- Cold tests down to -78 o C.
- Dry heat tests up to 200 o C steady state.
- Damp heat tests -78 o C to 170 o C.
- Impact tests.
- Acceleration tests.
- Corrosion tests.
- Change of temperature tests.
- Sealing tests.
- Altitude tests.
- Sealing tests.
- Thermal shock testing.
Shock and vibration
|
To IEC 60068, AS1099 and MIL-STD-810 series or technical equivalents.
Underwriters can test to the following specifications:
- Sine sweep tests.
- Computer controlled endurance tests running from 5Hz to
4000Hz for:
- Fixed frequency sinusoidal vibration up to 90kg.
- Displacement, velocity and acceleration fixed frequency
tests up to 90kg.
- Random vibration tests up to 40g.
- Shock tests with various waveshapes, pulse widths and peak
accelerations:
- Up to 75g shock loading.
- Conducted in up to six axis directions.
Testing capabilities and limits are dependent on size and weight of
test specimen.
